MaaChai
University
“Our spirit can be made whole only
through the learning and practice of respect
and unity with all our sisters, brothers and other
spirits of the universe. Respect is the primes of enlightenment;
treat all life as temples of divinity and you yourself shall be Divine.”
-MaShiAat Oloya
MaaChai Kemetic University (MCKU)
A Daughter Organization of HaVlaEndra
The
MaaChai Kemetic University was created to fulfill a growing thirst for
knowledge among those who seek the Living Indigenous Kemetic Tradition,
the wisdom of the Ancestors/NeteRishas and the ShiEndra Way. Contrary
to popular belief, Kemetic Spirituality is not a dead tradition nor
purely reconstructionist theory. We offer a variety of courses
and certification programs to feed both a personal quest for understanding
as well as provide vital training for those who feel called to a path
that includes the activation-healing techniques of the Ancient Kemites
practiced by the Kindred of ShiEndra.
Course Structure
Courses
at MCKU are designed to be progressive and complimentary. They
are intended to be taken as part of a larger course of study or training
program, however any of the Djet (Foundation)
courses can be taken individually. Due to the depth and responsibility
involved in the higher level courses, certain Djet courses are prerequisite.
Our
training programs are designed to be completed over the course of
3-4 years. Within this framework, however, is the understanding
that the true goal is the personal expansion and spiritual development
of the seeker, not the fulfillment of requirements by certain deadlines.
Studying with MCKU is a spiritual life decision and commitment to
walking your own enlightened path.
Each
course consists of lecture material, assignments, and a closing exercise.
Courses are graded in a complete/incomplete fashion. Course
fees are required upon enrollment and an initial, one-time processing
fee is assessed at the time of your application. Additional
course materials may be required, depending on the course, all of
which will be listed in the course description. MCKU may have
suggestions as to where to locate these materials, however the procuring
of them is the responsibility of the student.
Where
do the teachings come from?
MaShiAat
Oloya Tyehimba, President of the MaaChai Kemetic University and Dean
of the Kemetic Spirituality Department, by sacred bloodline and initiation,
carries the title of Queen Mother (MaShiAat) in the HaVlaEndra tradition of the Kindred of ShiEndra, a spirituality-based,
LIVING INDIGENOUS society from the Kemetic pantheon. She is
of direct, traceable descent from Queen Tiye (ca. 1415-1340 B.C.)
who was Queen Mother of Kemet for half a century. Oloya Tyehimba
was accepted into the HaVlaEndra matriarchal society while living
in Kemet (Egypt,) Africa. With years of challenging and rigorous training,
she was assisted in further developing her spiritual, healing and
leadership abilities. She learned the ancient traditions, practices
and wisdom passed down from mother to daughter over hundreds of generations
dating back to the time before recorded history. After finally
undergoing an intense, three month long initiation process in Kemet,
Oloya Tyehimba was initiated by the Council of Elders in this tradition.
Upon her return to the United States, Oloya set out to find a balance between
her Kemetic African, West African/Caribbean roots and her African-American
heritage. As an initiated Priestess and daughter of Oya within
the Yoruba/West African tradition and a High Priestess ordained by
Z Budapest within the Dianic path of the Goddess/Great Mother tradition,
Oloya petitioned the Council of Elders in Kemet to grant her the right
to form the Kindred of ShiEndra. Her request was granted and
she returned to Kemet to be ordained and receive the title MaShiAat
(Queen Mother) along with the right to establish a society based on
the morals, healing and teaching practices of HaVlaEndra. MaShiAat
Oloya Tyehimba founded the Kindred of ShiEndra, a matriarchal, ancestral
based society that embraces all cultures and spirituality without
prejudice. She now teaches, lectures, and writes, bringing such highly
sought after knowledge to the greater public spirit on the subjects
of Ancestral Spirituality, Wommin’s and Goddess Spirituality, African
Origins, the Ancient Kemetic HaVla Vibrational Principle and the activational-healing
techniques practiced by the Kindred of ShiEndra pantheon. The
MaaChai Kemetic University is one of the many vehicles through which
this knowledge is passed.
What
is the difference between a Priestess or Priest In Training (P.I.T.)
with the Kindred of ShiEndra and a student at MCKU?
A
Priestess or Priest in training with the Kindred of ShiEndra has personally
petitioned the MaShiAat and the Kindred Council and has been accepted
into spiritual training and initiation to become a member of the Kindred
of ShiEndra after physically completing required workshops.
Students at MCKU enroll for a specific training program, course of
study or personal spiritual development taken as a home study correspondence
via mail or internet. (There are some required classes taken in person.)
Students may
be eligible to petition after a minimum of one year of coursework
depending on the collective agreement and goals of both the student
and the Kindred.
Are
students at MCKU expected to adopt any particular set of beliefs or
practices?
No,
not at all. People with many different belief structures both
benefit from and enjoy the teachings of the MaaChai. The purpose of
MCKU is to bring Souls together for united spiritual healing, education,
enrichment, spiritual ascension and community, not to gain converts.
MaaChai Kemetic University is open to all those who are seeking divine
truth and ascension with the understanding that there are many truths.
It is our purpose to reclaim and serve Divine by uniting all.
The courses of the MaaChai, although built on a foundation of Kemetic
Wisdom, incorporate many sacred teachings, texts and scriptures from
around the world. The one common belief of our community is
the acknowledgement and practice that all beings are breathing temples
of Divine and should be respected and treated as such, and that the
Divine Feminine is the creative source of all life.
Why
is tuition charged if the teachings are spiritual?
In
ancient times you would leave your home, give all your possessions
to the temple and live in a communal environment working in exchange
for the teachings you received. In today’s world, that is a
more difficult task with jobs, families, and governments to consider.
The Kindred of ShiEndra and the Teachers within the MaaChai Kemetic
University are full-time priestesses, priests and community leaders
first unlike other new age groups, societies and schools who exist
to capitalize on the collective human hunger for spiritual truth and
family. Our life’s work is to bring forth these teachings and
activate healing in all who cross our paths, thereby furthering evolution
and the total spiritual liberation of all huma kind. Within
this work, we must also support ourselves, feed our children and keep
a roof over our heads. Several of us live as cloistered priestesses
and priests in a communal house and are supported by the full-time
spiritual work that we do. It is the belief of the MaShiAat
and the Kindred of ShiEndra that priestessing is a legitimate service
and should be supported by the community as a full-time position.
At MCKU, you will be challenged with an experiential, initiatory process
that cannot be achieved through reading books or watching cable television.
The wisdom in these programs comes from a true, thriving lineage and
you will have the immense benefit of assistance and support from the
living, breathing entity that is the Kindred of ShiEndra as well as
from the MaShiAat herself. Personal advising from a Kindred Priestess
or Priest throughout your journey as well as the inclusion in
a unique community of spiritual sojourners like yourself are what make
this path unique and well worth the financial commitment.
